Biographical / Historical

From 1924 to 1940 R. W. Lowry was the captain of Company F, 205th Infantry Regiment based in Worthington, Minnesota. Starting in July 1940, the elements of the 205th Infantry Regiment were converted into coastal artillery units and the company from Worthington, Minnesota received a new captain. In January 1942, R. W. Lowry returned to military service for the State of Minnesota as the lieutenant colonel of the Third Infantry Regiment of the State Guard where he remained until February 3 1947 when he was mustered out of service. In 1951 R. W. Lowry re-entered service with the Minnesota State Guard as the battalion commander of the 6th Battalion, 1st Group based in Worthington, Minnesota where he served until his retirement in the mid-1950s.
