Ramsey, Alexander letter
Scope and Contents
One hand-written letter by Ramsey on State of Minnesota Executive Office letterhead:
Robert R. Caron[?] Esq. Philadelphia Penn-
Dear Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication of the 4th last.
Most of the troops raised in this State, are in the Army of the West, with Genl. Hallack. There is but one Minnesota Regt. of Infantry and two Companies of sharp shooters east of the mountains.
Should any of the soldiers of the 1st Minnesota Vols, or the two companies of sharp shooters from this State, (Company A of the 2nd Reg U.S.S. Shooters and Comy "L" as they write, of the 1st Reg, I think, of Sharpshooters) be taken to Philadelphia, I desire that you will see to their wants and that they are not imposed upon.
For the services then rendered our Legislature at its next session will see that you are compesated.
Very respectfully Yours, Alex. Ramsey
